We have three of our most popular conversions for renting - a short wheel base Tiree, a long wheel base Cromarty and a long wheel base Sanna. All built upon the VW Transporter T5 they are easy to park and reverse and are ideal for the narrow Highland roads! All our vehicles sleep a minimum of four adults.

Top Spots to Stop

If you’ve found a great place to camp that you’d like to share with other folk then we’d love to hear about it. Just send an email to topspot@jerba.co.uk telling us where it is and what you liked so much - it could have been the view, the things to do, or the local pub, it’s up to you.

If you have a photo of the place as well that would be even better, just attach it to your email and if it’s OK with you we’ll put it on the website.

Recommended Top Spots

Valtos, Isle of Lewis

A fantastic sheltered white sand beach on the island’s west coast, very few people and you can camp up right beside the beach. It’s a basic farmer’s field, but there is a very good small toilet and shower block (not just a rusty old portakabin!). The sea is crystal clear and you’ll never have to book a site. The standing stones circle at Callanish is just 20 minutes drive away. The only downside is that the nearest wine or beer shop is back in Stornoway which is about an hour’s drive - stock up before you leave!

Glenmore Campsite, Loch Morlich

A site right on the banks of Loch Morlich, about 5 miles from Aviemore. It’s open all year around and is in the heart of the Cairngorm mountains. Great place for outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking, sailing, windsurfing, fishing and climbing. You can hire sailing dinghies, windsurfers, kayaks, canoes and row boats at the watersports centre next door and there’s a great sandy beach. Landmark is a funpark in the forest at Carrbridge about 20 minutes drive away, the RSPB Loch Garten reserve where osprey’s nest is a similar distance and the mountain railway up the Cairngorms is just 5 minutes drive in the other direction. There’s a local store at the campsite and a Tesco in Aviemore. The site has two huge, brand new and fantastic shower and washroom blocks - fully heated in winter. If you want to go in the summer then we’d advise booking ahead. To find out more visit http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/camping

Applecross Campsite, Applecross

Looking out over the Inner Sound to the Isle of Skye, the site is located directly above the small coastal village of Applecross with fantastic views west out over the sea to the Cuillin mountains of Skye. The direct route to Applecross takes you over Scotland’s highest tarmaced road, the Bealach na Ba at almost 700m, if you want a challenge then it’s a famed and popular cycling challenge – from sea level to the east near Loch Carron, over the pass and down to Applecross on the west side! The site has a magnificent café set in a poly tunnel amidst tropical plants and with a toddlers’ play area and internet access there’s something for everyone!

Sands Holiday Centre, Gairloch

About 30 minutes drive north of the fantastic Torridon Valley, Big Sands is located in rolling grassy sand dunes right next to a sandy (pebbly to the west) beach. Located out on a peninsula on a quiet road it’s a ideal place to stop on a trip up north and has fantastic views back south across the Torridon range and beyond. In the summer it has a well stocked site shop and the overall facilities are very good with plenty of showers, a good laundry and a kids’ games room. It does get busy in the peak season, so in July and August it probably pays to book.

Fionn Fhort, Isle of Mull

Looking out west over the Isle of Iona this is a big farmer’s field site right on a white sand beach. The shower and toilet block is basic, but the location is wonderful. Great rockpooling and beachwalking, and for more energetic walking, Mull’s munro, Ben More, is just 20 minutes drive away. The ferry to Iona is literally a mile down the road and it’s a magical place to visit and walk around. Boat trips also run to Staffa and Fingal’s cave; Scotland’s end of the basalt column Giant’s Causeway. There’s a local shop just a mile or so down the road from the campsite. No need to book, it’s just a huge field and you camp where you want!
