Our Story

From a van in Canada to Britain's most trusted converter.

After ten years owning and hiring campervans across Canada, New Zealand and Australia, we were sure we could improve on the vans we’d lived in. Sometimes we wondered if the people who designed them had ever actually slept in one.
We knew we could do better. In late 2005, Jerba Campervans was formed. We started by converting any van that came through the door, but quickly specialised in the VW Transporter, today working directly with Volkswagen as a registered body builder for the T6.1.

Simon and Cath buy a VW T2 in Canada and live out of it for two months from Vancouver to Montreal.

A four-month rental trip across New Zealand and Australia with three young children sharpens what really matters in a layout.

Jerba Is Born

After converting their own VW T5, Simon and Cath form Jerba Campervans with the goal of building Britain's best.

A small unit just big enough for two vans opens its doors. The brand starts to take shape.

First UK VW campervan company to gain full European Type Approval, and recognised as a Volkswagen registered body builder.

A unique elevating roof is patented and fitted to every Jerba conversion from this point on.

In 2017, as Simon and Cath both turned 50, they began thinking about the future of Jerba. After detailed planning, the Jerba Campervans Trust was formed in January 2018 and 100% of company shares were transferred into it.
That single decision shapes everything we do. The people building your campervan are the people who own the business. Quality, service and pride aren’t policies, they’re personal.
