{"id":5213,"date":"2019-04-15T15:15:43","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T15:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"httpss:\/\/www.jerbacampervansredo.mtcserver.com\/?p=5213"},"modified":"2019-06-21T13:33:44","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T13:33:44","slug":"domhnall-jerba-experience-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/blog\/domhnall-jerba-experience-so-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Domhnall Jerba Experience&#8230;so far"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What\u2019s been your favourite trip away in your campervan so far and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our\n best trip to date has been to France. It was a long drive down to \nPortsmouth for the ferry but when we got off the next morning in \nBrittany it was worth it. We spent two weeks touring in the Vendee, the \nLoire Valley and Normandy. We have discovered a chain of independently \nowned camp sites called Les Castels. Each of the sites is family run and\n they tend to be in the grounds of Chateaux. The sites we have stayed at\n all have loyal followings of families who return year after year. On \none of the sites we were lucky enough to arrive when the&nbsp; owner threw a \nhuge BBQ for everyone staying. It was clear from speaking to people that\n the owners and guests were like old friends. Some people were there who\n had come as kids themselves and were now returning with their own \nchildren.&nbsp; The only down side of this trip was that the temperatures \nwere in the low 30s. Since our van has no air con it was a very warm \ntime, turning up the fans in the front of the van was just like being \nhair dryered! Our next van will have air con for certain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Has anything surprised you about your campervan that you just didn\u2019t expect?!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\n had a previous campervan which Jerba had modified for us. We were so \nimpressed with their work that when it came time for a new van the \nchoice was obvious. It\u2019s the little thoughtful touches that make the \ndifference and sometimes they only become apparent when you speak to \npeople with other makes of camper. The least obvious, yet useful one is \nthe rubber strip above the driver\u2019s door which stops water pouring down \non the driver or in the window. It\u2019s such a useful thing I had no idea \nit wasn\u2019t a standard VW thing until I heard someone moaning about water \nrun off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In between holidays I often have to travel with my job \nand sometimes the accommodation we are given isn\u2019t the greatest. I \nalways take the van. Not only is it a comfortable place to sleep but it \nis also a great mobile office. I\u2019ve done umpteen conference calls from \nthe back of my van and have even used it to conduct staff appraisals. A \ncamper van is the ultimate versatile vehicle. Fitted with all season \ntyres it\u2019s equally at home in the sunshine or the snow and ice of a ski \nresort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/winter-camper-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"campervan in the snow\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/red-campervans-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"two red campervans\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What would you say to someone who\u2019s considering buying a campervan?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try\n before you buy. It\u2019s a big purchase and you may find the reality isn\u2019t \nexactly what you expected. It\u2019s a phenomenally versatile vehicle though.\n We use it all year, not just for camping trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why did you choose Jerba Campervans?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A\n friend of mine knew someone at Jerba and when I was looking to have \nsome improvements made to my old van he suggested I call Simon. As soon \nas I got chatting to him it was obvious Simon understood exactly what I \nwanted. Although I wasn\u2019t buying a new van Simon reckoned he could \nsqueeze us in between new vans and suggested he could give our order to \none of the apprentices as a mini project if I was happy with this. The \nwork was perfect and we were very pleased. When we were looking for a \nnew van we didn\u2019t hesitate to call Jerba. Since then we\u2019ve recommended \nJerba whenever we\u2019re asked about our van and at least two Cromarty\u2019s \nhave been ordered by friends of ours (including Tim who came up with the\n lengthy list of things to do with a Jerba).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What\u2019s next?! Where are you planning to go in the months and years to come?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\n didn\u2019t use the van for our main holiday last year as we were visiting \nfriends and family in Canada but this year we\u2019re off back to France, \nvisiting the same camp sites we did in 2016 \u2013 if it ain\u2019t broke\u2026\u2026.&nbsp; The \nonly part we haven\u2019t planned yet is where to camp in England on the way \nback. So if anyone has any good suggestions within an hour or two of \nPortsmouth heading North please get in touch.
