{"id":5216,"date":"2019-04-15T15:18:30","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T15:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"httpss:\/\/www.jerbacampervansredo.mtcserver.com\/?p=5216"},"modified":"2019-06-21T13:22:02","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T13:22:02","slug":"comrie-croft-eco-campsite-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/blog\/comrie-croft-eco-campsite-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Comrie Croft Eco-Campsite Review"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\n arrived at Comrie Croft just before the farm shop closed at 7pm. The \nstaff at reception were very helpful in checking us in and provided us \nwith a map and directions to the campervan area. It was here that we \nalso bought our fire wood \u2013 very reasonably priced at only \u00a31 for a bag \nof kindling and \u00a36 for a large bag of logs. It is possible to also \nforage for wood in the High Wood area of the campsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/comrie-croft.jpg\" alt=\"comrie croft\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\n parked up at our spot and the views were great! Each campervan pitch \n(there are 4 spots \u2013 so make sure you book in advance!) had its own \nwooden picnic table, fire pit and fire saucer. This was down a small \nembankment next to the campervan and each pitch had its own set of \nwooden steps down. Please note that the site does not have electric hook\n ups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/best-campsites-for-campervans-1.jpg\" alt=\"best campsites for campervans\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\n lit our fire and got the cards and dominoes out taking in the beautiful\n surroundings. We went into the van to make a tasty Thai green curry and\n took this back out to the picnic table to enjoy al fresco. Before bed \nwe had just enough time to toast a few marshmallows on the fire \u2013 crispy\n on the outside gooey on the inside is how I like my marshmallow cooked!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/campsites-with-fires-1.jpg\" alt=\"campsites with fires\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/cook.jpg\" alt=\"campervan cooking\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/campsite-fire-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"campsite fire\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\n the morning, we got up bright and early, it is now that I must point \nout just how amazing Comrie Crofts facilities were. I saw one review on \ntheir social media that said; \u2018roses are red, trees are green, we love \nthis place cause the loos are clean!\u2019- I honestly couldn\u2019t agree more \nwith this!! The toilets were always immaculate (considering that this \ncampsite also has the mountain bike trails I have no idea how they \nmanage to keep it so clean!). Each toilet had its own sink and hand \ndryer meaning there was no paper towels strewn on the floor. I also \nnoticed that all of their toilet roll was eco-friendly. The showers were\n just as good if not better \u2013 each shower room had plenty of space to \nhang your clothes up and put things down on the floor without fear of \nthem getting wet and the shower was lovely and hot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/campsite-facilities-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"campsite facilities\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once\n we were showered we had a quick bowl of cereal and we were ready for \nthe mountain bikes! We didn\u2019t have our own mountain bikes, so we went \ndown to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comriecroftbikes.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comrie Croft bike hire shop <\/a>on\n site and hired two bikes. Digby who was working in the shop was \nextremely friendly and quickly got us our bikes and helmets and pointed \nus in the direction of the trails. We started out on the small skills \nset trail which is located right next to the campervan pitches. There \nare lots of obstacles to choose from here with progressive table top \njumps and the Jackie Chan drop line, rock garden and a little sprockets \nkids mini pump area. This is a great bit for kids \u2013 the family next to \nus (who happened to have a Jerba roof on their campervan) were able to \nsit at their campervan and keep an eye on their kids going around the \ntrail \u2013 a great bonus of this campsite if you have kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/campervan-campsite-scotland-1.jpg\" alt=\"campervan campsite scotland\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After\n we\u2019d tested our skills it was time to go up and hit the bigger trails. \nIt was a beautiful, hot, sunny day and although going uphill was a bit \nexhausting at times (I may have walked my bike up some bits) the \ndownhill was truly exhilarating! We are not experienced mountain bikers \nhaving only been a few times before so we stuck to the blue trails but \nthere were lots of experienced mountain bikers taking on the red and \nblack trails which required a bit more skill. So, there really was \ntrails for all abilities and even though we were on the easier trail It \nwas still super fun and challenging!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would definitely recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comriecroft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comrie Croft Eco-Camping Site<\/a>\n especially to people with young families. The laid-back style of the \nplace is evident from the minute you walk in and see campers all sat \naround their individual fires laughing away and having a few beers, but \nthis laid-back style of camping doesn\u2019t stop the staff being attentive \nin anyway. A lot of thought and organisation has clearly gone into this \ncampsite providing excellent facilities while also trying to make a \ngreater impact on wider society \u2013 the campsite is trying to achieve Zero\n waste to landfill and has great recycling facilities where you can \nrecycle pretty much anything. So, we would like to say a massive well \ndone to them on their amazing campsite with great campervan pitches!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jerbacampervans.co.uk\/JerbaStaging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/campervan-campsites-scotland-1.jpg\" alt=\"campervan campsites scotland\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last weekend, our digital marketing specialist, Erin, took our bright yellow Tiree rental camper out in search of some great campervan campsites. A quick look online uncovered the gem that is Comrie Croft Eco-Camping Site. Comrie Croft had excellent reviews and on their website they noted that they had recently put in a dedicated area for campervans. Friday came and it was time to pack the marshmallows and dominoes and head up to Comrie. The facilities at this campsite for camper vans exceeded expectations and with their great mountain biking trails onsite it truly is a great place to stop for an
