Hot Blown Air Heating with Cool Blown Option
We recommend diesel fired hot air systems and for a stand alone product we always install the Webasto Airtop 2000ST, a product that we have found to be the best quality on the market. Just as Volkswagen in their factory, we install the unit beneath the driver’s seat on the underside of the T6. The heater, which we connect to run only from the leisure battery, will give you hot air within a couple of minutes of starting up and without the need to have your vehicle engine running.
With a new fuel line placed into your vehicle’s fuel tank the consumption of this heater on maximum power is at most only ½ litre per hour – giving you days of heating. With a thermostat digital control inside your campervan you set how hot you want to be, the heater will just turn on and off to maintain your chosen setting.
As part of our National Small Series Type Approval certification our installation of the new fuel line was fully pressure tested by the Vehicle Certification Agency to ensure that no leaks would occur in the event of the vehicle rolling over in an accident and so prevent any fuel spillage.
If you’re not hooked up to 230v then prolonged use of the hot blown air system can have an impact on the leisure battery – to counter this, whenever we fit a Webasto Airtop, we always include an upgraded leisure battery system to 150amps hours.
The Webasto Airtop also now includes a cool air setting as standard. This will blow the internal air through the heater unit without adding any heat. It will not cool the air, as do air conditioning units, but will provide a cooling effect in hot still conditions through moving the air around – on the digital control panel you can choose varying fan speeds.
